Reflection: We were learning about stereotyping in class, and we had the option of reading two books, both of which were beneficial to learning about how we perceive stereotyping. For example, I chose The American-Born Chinese because it had three stories and both stereotyping and examples of how people may assume what you do based on how you look. It demonstrated, for example, how people may make assumptions about what you do based on how you appear. For example, the main charter student, who was Chinese, walked into their new classroom, and a student asked if he ate a dog. Another person asked what China is like, and he said no, he has never been to China. He was born in America. This showed how people can make stereotypes based on how you look and make assumptions about where you live, your traditions, and, ect.
