I chose Animas because, unlike other schools, they had better options for my preferred learning style. One reason for this is that at my older school, which was more traditional, I had problems focusing. Because in a traditional school, they are more paper-based and read from a textbook, and my brain is more for hands-on learning. In a public school where there are 30–40 kids per class, the teacher can only teach you as much as the class can understand. At Animas, it's more of a one-on-one environment, and if you are interested in a subject, they can challenge you to a high level or give extra work for you. This can lead to a thirst for knowledge. Animas High School develops you not only academically but also as a person. At Animas, they teach you habits of the heart and mind. Perseverance, effort, and refinement are just a few of the habits they help you to build. With the morals they teach through the four years, this will help me become the person I want to be. Animas High School also prepares you for the future. Animas helps you with college and career preparation, but also with necessary skills you will need for the future after high school. For example, they teach you how to cook. I believe one of the electives is teaching kids about bills, taxes, and etc. My goals for beyond high school have prepared me for what I want to achieve this year as a person and how I want to thrive as a learner. For example, I want to help people, and with animas they teach you work and heart ethic. Animas High School shows what education means such as getting out of the norm and going ‘’outside of the box''. I mean this by thinking from a new perspective and in different ways. Getting the most out of your learning and being excited about learning and getting new opportunities This is why I chose to go to Animas High School.
